Chocolate Donuts

My mom used to make these donuts as an after-school snack when we were little, and boy did we love them! Turns out my boys love them too so they've become a frequent snack we make these days. Try out this recipe and let me know how it goes!

Ingredients:

Donuts:

2 cups flour
1 egg
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter milk
1/2 tsp vanilla essence
1 tsp baking powder
2 pinches baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
2 tbsp oil

Chocolate Fudge:

3/4 cup (185ml) condensed milk
1/2 cup cocoa powder (light)
1/2 cup butter
Couple of spoons milk

Method:

Mix all the ingredients and knead into a dough.

Let the dough rest for about half an hour.

Prepare the chocolate fudge by dissolving the cocoa powder in a couple of tablespoons of warm milk (Sieve the cocoa powder to make sure there are no lumps). Mix well to ensure a smooth creamy texture.

Heat the condensed milk and butter in a thick bottomed non-stick pan over a low flame.

Add the cocoa-milk mixture and stir well to combine all the ingredients.

Continue stirring to a boil, taking care not to let the fudge burn.

Put a drop of fudge on a saucer and let it cool. The fudge is ready if it sets and gets firm when cool.

Knead the donut dough again, and roll out to about 1cm thickness.

Cut the donuts using a donut cutter (you can also cut these out using anything round for the outer and inner circle).

Fry in oil over medium flame till golden brown.

Dip the donuts in the fudge and leave on a tray to cool.
